The CRUSADE Executive Committee cordially invites you to a Regional CME Meeting on the CRUSADE Quality Improvement Initiative!

Acute Coronary Syndromes: From Diagnosis to Post-Discharge

Join area hospital teams to learn from the experts how to translate evidence-based medicine for unstable angina (UA) and non-ST-segment myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) into clinical practice.

As you may know, CRUSADE (Can Rapid Risk Stratification of Unstable Angina Patients Suppress Adverse Outcomes with Early Implementation of the ACC/AHA Guidelines) is a multicenter qualityimprovement initiative that analyzes treatment practices and hospital management of patients with unstable angina and non–ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (UA-NSTEMI). The data collected from the CRUSADE program are used to focus educational interventions designed to:

• Raise the current state of awareness of and adherence to the ACC/AHA 2002 Guideline Update for the Management of Patients With Unstable Angina and Non–ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

• Implement quality-improvement initiatives designed to promote the ACC/AHA treatment recommendations for patients with UA-NSTEMI

• Improve clinical outcomes with early implementation of the ACC/AHA guidelines for patients with UA-NSTEMI

Unfortunately, major gaps still persist between ideal care for UA-NSTEMI and care that is received by many patients in communities across the country. Continued quality-improvement efforts are needed to ensure that evidence-based medicine is translated into clinical practice from hospital admission to discharge, as well as during long-term management after the patient leaves the hospital.

Toward that end, we are pleased to bring you the latest lessons from CRUSADE. This comprehensive meeting is designed to inform physicians, nurses, and hospital personnel about recent developments in the management of UA-NSTEMI and the significant opportunities that exist to improve patient care. We will provide evidence that adherence to guidelines actually improves patient outcomes, discuss strategies to improve acute and discharge care, and create opportunities to learn from the hands-on experiences of our peers. Whether you are a current member of CRUSADE, are considering enrollment, or are simply interested in optimizing the care of your patients with UA-NSTEMI, this meeting will be beneficial.

Your enthusiasm and dedication to quality improvement are the keys to improving care of patients with UA-NSTEMI. CRUSADE has unprecedented potential for directly improving patient care nationwide, but we cannot do it without your help. We eagerly anticipate working with you to make it a great success.

We hope you will be able to join us.

Sincerely,
